Singapore will join over 100 countries around the world to commemorate Safer Internet Day (SID) today! The Safer Internet Day (SID) is a public awareness initiative started in 2004 by the Insafe Network, a network of Awareness Centres funded under the Safer Internet Programme of the European Commission.

The Theme for Safer Internet Day is “Together for a Better Internet“. This year almost 180,000 people in Ireland highlighted Safer Internet Day 2020. Safer Internet Day started as an initiative of the EU SafeBorders project in 2004 and taken up by the Insafe network of Safer Internet Centres in Europe as one of its earliest actions in 2005, over the years, SID has become a landmark event in the global online safety calendar, and is now celebrated in approximately 140 countries worldwide.
